It is an easy assumption to make that once we have a website people will start to visit. However a website isn’t like a high street store, people can’t just wander past and stumble across your shop by mistake. For this reason alone you need to make sure that you do everything you can to make sure people can find you.

A lot of the time your visitors will come from search engines. As you know, when you search for something online you probably only click on one of the results on the front page. These websites are there because of their pagerank. The way that your pagerank does vary however generally looks at the content of your site, how up to date it is, how many other pages link to your site etc. Generally the higher page rank you have the better your website will perform on search engines. There are plenty of ways that you can go online to check pagerank when it comes to your site. In fact you can even download toolbars that will help you to see how high your page rank is, these tool bars also allow you to verify pagerank so you can see how well you are doing compared to others.

The sad thing is that many people try to commit pagerank fraud in order to make their website rank higher than it deserves too. These methods can make it harder for the genuine people online to improve their page rank and get the rankings that they deserve. However if you stick with it and use the correct methods to build up your sites reputation you will soon see improvements and your website will start to perform as well as you would hope. It is well worth paying attention too if you want your site to do well.
