Every sensible adult knows that having unprotected sex poses a risk. However, just because we know of the risks doesn’t mean that we always ask in the right world. The truth is that any more of us are now much more relaxed about sex, which means that we don’t always think about protection when it comes to having sex with multiple partners. Thanks to our lax attitude about sex with protection, sexually transmitted diseases and infections are on the increase especially within the younger generation.

One of the sexually transmitted infections that are on the increase is genital herpes. This is quite easily spread if you have sexual contact with some one that suffers from them with no protection. Of course having sex with the protection of a condom can help avoid this risk. The problem with this infection is that genital herpes symptoms do not always show up, which can leave the infection undetected. If you ever have unprotected sex with some one else you should always seek medical advice even if you do not show signs of having caught anything.

The symptoms that may show up if you do contract genital herpes include:

-         Small blisters and ulcers around your genital area. These are usually redish in colour and extremely sore.

-         Fever, swollen glands and other flu like symptoms

-         Itchiness and general pains around your genital area.

That said these are the most common symptoms and are not the only symptoms that you may experience. It can not be stressed enough that if you have had unprotected sex, you should seek medical advice. Of course the best advice that could be given would be to only have protected sex however we know that is not always at the forefront of peoples minds in the heat of the moment.
